Lead cast bullets in a Garand

I have a converted Tanker Garand that I need to load some lead bullets for. Any suggestions as to what bullet to use and load. Thanks for the help.

Why lead? Make sure to use a gas-check. Hopefully the gas port won't get clogged with lead.

I belong to a club that only allows lead bullets to be shot in matches. We have some matches where WW 2 firearms are used, other wise I wouldn't mess with it. I plan on using a gas check bullet. I'm hoping someone out there has done some work in this area and will share some knowledge.

There's a forum site called "cast boolits" that's all about, SHOCKER!--Cast bullet loading and shooting. You might try there. I remember reading years ago about shooting cast in the M1 rifle. I think UNIQUE was mentioned, but since I don't shoot cast in my M1's I really wasn't interested in it.
    Good luck in your endeavor.

I remember seeing something about 190gr (or heavier) cast over IMR4831 in that forum. I believe the slower powder gave enough gas pressure at the port to cycle the rifle. Cast bullets offer less resistance in the barrel than jacketed.
