    Late Springfield barrel

I have a 43 Springfield rebuilt at Anniston that has a 65 Springfield barrel on it. My question is there is a stamping a few inches back from the muzzle I can't seem to be able to read it. Has anyone seen one and what do they say and mean? Thanks in advance for any help.

This is where import stamps are normally put. Try taking a picture of it, sometimes what cant be easily seen will show up better in pictures

Try rubbing the stamp with a piece of chalk. That's what we use here in the shop. A lot of the FN M16A2s have a dot matrix engraving, and the serial numbers can be very difficult to read after 25 years and a few applications of touch up Solid Film Lubricant!

I agree with Bill. Probably an import stamp.
