Hahs Anyone Seen a 1942 Dated Cotton Sling?

Hi has anyone seen an original OD3 sling dated 1942?

I have a 45 one on my SA 45, 44 one on my SA 44, I have a spare 43 one which I intend to put on an SA 43 once I get it and I have an SA 42 which I would love to find a 42 Cotton sling for, but am unsure as to whether this is a real item or not.

    Thank you!

The only cotton slings that I know that are dated for the Garand are the m1923 slings.

I don't think they came to be until '43.

I have seen one and only one 1942 dated web sling. We did not know they existed but we took it out of a box at Anniston back in '02 I think. I have not seen another so I would not hold your breath.

Just use a leather sling - there are plenty of 1942 date leather slings out there.

US WW1 era slings were also used on the early M1 rifles Click image for larger version

Lads sorry should have explained I am aware of what slings can go on an M1, Infact J have 4 originals including 2 WW1 ones. I even have a 1923 sling. I was just looking to match a 42 SA with a 42 Cotton sling.

                  Cheers

Roger, but you asked about 1942. As bodyman indicates I’ve only heard of one 1942 web sling, because I don’t believe they were manufactured then, if so, in very limited numbers. However, there are several 1942 dated m1923 cotton/web slings available that were designated limited standard for the Garand in the supply system.

I've seen one before in ebay however there is a repro manufacturer making them and they are all dated 1942. Very hard to find.

A 1907 leather sling would have been issued with your rifle
