    New to the game

I bought my first M1 a few months ago and I'm still new to the game. Is there any way that I can identify my rifle? Date of manufacture/military service/original serial # etc...?

Tell us the maker and serial number and we can date it. Where did it see service? Only God and it know. There is only ONE serial number on an M1 rifle--the number on the receiver heel below the maker's name. The numbers on all the other parts are drawing, or part numbers.

        I use this site.

It would indicate your rifle was born in August of 1943.
