Bought a Garand with a 308 Winchester barrel looking for advice

The barrel has "WA A 308 10"(Wilson Arms barrel) on it and has Spacer Black from Fulton Armory.
Should I get an adjustable Gas plug or is the normal plug safe?
What type of ammo should I use? 7.62 NATO?

In a 308 Garand you can run virtually any off the shelf 308 ammo 180gr or under. 308 Garands are far more forgiving than their 30-06 cousins are especially with commercial barrels. Just avoid the Hornady Superperformance crap. The 204 Ruger stuff I tried in my AR15 about beat it to death and had flyers all over the place. It's not very accurate and runs a proprietary slow powder designed for velocity vs accuracy, A marketing thing aimed at velocity hounds, IMHO. I tried it in several different rifles in several different calibers and the results sucked. Last time I looked PSA had the M80 149gr FMJ ammo for a good price. That stuff, for a mil spec, cheap ammo is darn accurate in my 308 Garand and AR10. And a big plus is the quality brass you end up with in the process.
