Tried to find something about this in other forum topics, but nothing came back in my searches. I just got a Garand from the CMP Store in Ohio (I/H, S/N 5017093). When I field stripped it I found a small paper tag taped to the underside of the trigger plate. It has 3-lines and 3-columns...…….in the first column, on subsequent lines top to bottom are the following:
SAG
SOL
YUKARI
It's been in there a while as the paper is oil soaked, and the tape holding it on no longer adheres to the plate. The tag appears to be sized to fit on the plate so as NOT to be seen on an assembled rifle.
Anybody have any ideas as to what the heck this thing is, and/or what it means/meant? Tanks a lot in advance.
