Thanks for sharing the results of your research. There are variations in a few of the tools that were used during the WW2 era, so others with more info than I will likely chime in.

The M3 (?) tool with the slotted tool, not the brush is correct for WWII. Early oilers are the nickel plated ones. Plastic oilers are mid-late war. You'll need the moustache brush as well. The sectioned cleaning rod set is post war.
The WWII screw driver blades are tapered. The stepped blades are post war.

According to Scott Duff who has many many years of research and multiple books on the Garand, the M3 A1 combo tool with the brush head was first issued in late 1943 and very quickly distributed because the slotted was inadequate at cleaning the chamber. It came about just as the war was in full swing. If Duff says it was 43 then you can take it to the bank. So both the slotted and brush combo tool are correct.

I was assuming the OP was asking about early war, but yes, you are correct about the over lap.
