I need some help..I am very new to Garands. I want to buy my first and would like some info. This is at a local auction and these are the only pics they have up. Can anyone tell me more about this rifle?
Thanks
If you really want an M1 Garand, I suggest you buy one from the CMP. They have several grades and you get what was advertised if not better. They have also been responsive in working problems and make good on whatever they sell. I recently purchased a Special grade and recommend it to anyone who plans to use their rifle; and is not a collector. It's essentially a brand new M1 built on a Gaged and refinished receiver.

Buying that M1 would be the ultimate crap shoot. Not near enough info or pictures. You could get a gem or a turd that can't even be shot safely. Remember you're talking about a 70+ firearm that could have seen action in 3 wars.
There have been drill rifles and ceremonial Garands modified to be "non shooters". No way you can tell from those pictures. I highly recommend you totally forget that auction and go elsewhere.
