Strange enbloc clip

Found this at the cartridge collectors show in St Louis a few weeks back. Not sure what it is but the plate on the top is crimped on at either side. Anyone ever seen anything like this?

I never saw anything like it before. The only thing I can think of is that it lets you practice loading an enbloc into a garand without using ammo.

You would think that if it was used in manufacturing, there would be a lot more of them floating around. That's the first one I saw.
It looks professionally made. Maybe it was made in Europe. Maybe it's a gauge to check the specs of an enbloc. I'm just guessing.

That is what every enbloc clip ever produced looked like just before going into the oven for heat treating. The anti warping plates were re-used and never needed to leave the production facility and so are not commonly seen.

It is, indeed, a heat treat fixture. each clip was wired into a fixture prior to going ito the heat treat oven and had to be removed afterwards.
