    Oversized training Garand

I think the first time I saw one of these was when I was a kid and it was hanging from the ceiling at a surplus store. Over the years I have seen them offered for sale in various levels of completeness, sometimes even with the storage box but almost always missing something. Unfortunately, only rarely do the separate bits come around so if you are in the market for one and it isn't complete it may take a very long time to find the missing pieces.

Back in the day these things could be had for 3 or 4 hundred bucks or less but I never bothered because they are so HUGE - I always figured the novelty would wear off before I got to the car with it, and bringing one of these thru the door would be the one item that my sweet wife wouldn't be able to ignore and make her actually put her foot down about my little hobby, ...

This pic cracked me up - it looks like someone put a regular Garand in a kids playhouse or something (a really nicely made kids playhouse but, ...).
