howdy, first post, longtime reader, hoping i can get opinion from the best guys on the net, just got a 5.5M hr that is beautiful, all parts h&r save bolt, which is d28287-19sa a-9 which dates to 1945 and looks new as rest of rifle,i have read that h&r used some sa bolts during mfg. does that # sound like it would be orig assembly? should i consider it correct? or should i look for proper bolt. te/me both 2, having trouble postng pics but will when my computer stupid brain figgers it out, thanks for any info

john thanks for reply, i wasnt clear, i am aware that the 45 sa is not the right date, its just that i have read in canfields book (i believe) that when h&r tooled up they received late run sa bolts that were left over after sa stopped building, and if that is the case with my m1, should i leave it the way it is, or try and get a appropriate h&r bolt, thanx for your time.....steve

SA parts will be in the 4.6 or 4.7 range, what ever their 1st s/n block was. I don't remember precisely and don't have the book in front of me right now. Again, your 5.5 is too late for SA parts. I know this is not what you want to hear, sorry.
