I bought this Garand in the mid 1980s, but don't remember the source. I had since assumed it was one of the Blue Sky imports from South Korea, but after doing some research, the examples I found on the Internet are import marked. There are no import marks or any stamps that are visible on the rifle, except for what appear to be normal arsenal markings. Were the Korean imports stamped with an import mark? Just trying to figure out what I have got. The receiver serial number dates the receiver to June 1943, I think. As I recall the rifles from the source I purchased mine from all had new barrels installed and my barrel looked new. Thanks for any comments.

Never mind! I did find an import mark, but it is tiny. "ARL Ord. Arlington, VA". Barrel is marked "SA 6535448 2 67 W1 D", so made by Springfield Armory in February 1967.Last edited by kwqd; 09-01-2017, 10:09 PM. -

Springfield stopped making Garands in 1955. You probably have a rifle rebuilt by Springfield in 1967, loaned out to another country and imported by ARL at a later date. Or, it was imported by ARL and the last owner replaced the barrel. I assume the import mark is on the receiver? If the barrel is in good condition you probably lucked out. 60's rebuild SA barrels are some of the best and most accurate replacement barrels ever installed on Garands.
