    Schuster plug

When using a Schuster or other adjustable plug, how do you go about finding the correct setting for the ammo you are using? Start with no bolt action and increase pressure until consistent loading of rounds? Reliable clip ejection? Direction the brass is tossed?

Open it all the way until the action does not cycle then close it 1/2 turn at a time until it functions properly.

You didn't believe the answer and video linked on the CMP forum? Just do what TJT said but do 1/4 turn at a time. After you get full function open an additional 1/4 turn. Just remember when you change ammo you need to start all over again and waste more ammo. If you intend to shoot Ball or ammo designed for a Garand, throw the PITA thing away. You don't need it. More trouble than it's worth.

+1, it is designed for slow burning powders and very heavy bullets.
