I got the opportunity to buy a M1 garand just this week. I bought it sight unseen, except for a few pics. Those pics told me all I needed to know, regarding it being a safe buy (early serial # WRA receiver). I'm starting to dig deeper into the history of this rifle, and I would appreciate any insight you guys have.
Receiver is WRA #137869
Receiver Housing??? D28291-2 WRA
Trigger Assembly #D28290-5-SA
Bolt D28287-12SA. S-06 (diamond)
Barrel 1-S-A-6-43
There are no stamps or cartouches on the stock.
It also came with a 16" bayonet stamped SA 1920 with wood grips in beautiful shape.
I would also like your opinions on whether it would be worth it to try and hunt down all WRA parts, and try and make it a true WRA M1, or keep it as is. For some reason, I can't upload any pics. Thanks in advance!
