    Plugged m-1c rifle

Does anyone out there know if plugged Garand M-1 rifle receiver can be returned to M-1C configuration. I would appreciate any information on what was done to PLUG the 5 holes in the receiver. I picked up a plugged receiver and am very interested in returning it to m-1C configuration.

I have heard of M1C receivers being returned to their former glory. I suggest you do a little research first to make sure it is an original M1C receiver and not something Bubba did and tried to hide his mistakes. I believe the plugs can be removed by EDM.

Back in 2000 I purchased a Danish issue SA M1 from the CMP for $400.00. It arrived with what looked like shellac on the receiver. Upon cleaning the rifle up I found five (5) plugged holes in the left side of the receiver, no SA 52 stamping to the rear of the sight. After scrounging up a M82 scope, G&H mount and GI base, in March of 2005 I took the stripped receiver and base to Griffin & Howe, in Berardsville, NJ. They re-drilled and mounted the base on my receiver and shipped it back to me via UPS. They are nice people to deal with. It is a 3.3 million s/n, revision -35, heat lot A21f, with a SA 3-45 barrel.

A friend of mine also got one of those from the CMP and I believe he also made it into a M1C. I'll have to check the next time I see him.
