Cant find import stamp S.A built 1943

There are no import stamps on the outside of the barrel at least that I can see or find. Does this mean it never left the country or came back in someones hand maybe ? If it left the country shouldnt it be import marked ? I pull back the operating rod and see 3 SA 6 45. I research the production numbers 17139xx and if I am reading correctly it is a 1943 ( S.A government built thank you M14 Brian )
I have done quite a bit of research about where the import mark should be on the side of the barrel....like BLUE SKY.

Am I looking in the wrong place for the import mark ?

Do you have any idea where the rifle came from? If it was ever a DCM or CPM sold rifle it will not have an import mark. If it came into the country before the year import marks were required (1968) it will not have an import mark. If it doesn't have one, rejoice and count your blessings. You just increased the value of the rifle by at least 25%.

The rifle was manufactured in early July, 1943, at Springfield Armory.

Then, with no import mark, it's either a bring back (not likely), a DCM or CMP rifle or a rifle imported before 1968. Either way, with no import mark it's much more valuable than if it had one.
