    1607 Windage Knob

I was emailed these photos a few days ago from RCS asking me to post these to the site. Sorry that it took so long to share, but work is crazy right now for me. I really don't know anything about this windage knob, so I hope RCS can educate me on it.

Brian, Thanks for posting these photos of a very early Springfield windage knob with a really fine checkering pattern. This
checkering is so fine that it was difficult to photograph. Must be proper for a three digit or early four digit receiver ? I
would like to know if anyone has found one like this ? I know Billy Pyle told me he also has one. Thanks again for posting
    the photos for me. Robert

      Robert,
My pleasure in posting the photos. Happy to do so anytime!
By chance, do you have a photo of the side of the windage knob. In speaking with Bubba there appears to be four different types of arrows on these and the elevation caps. I would assume that this windage knob as the smallest of the arrows, almost resembling a line. Is that correct?
      Thanks,

Brian, This windage knob has the very smallest arrows that you will ever find, like you said almost a line. Difficult to
        date the time period.

So is it correct that as time went on they figured out that a more aggressive checkering was better and then discontinued this type?
