    round body follower rod

I noticed that the prices have gone to the $600 to $700 price range now on these round body follower rods.

    Back in 1992 or 93, I bought SA 168576 with a S-A 12-40 plus some early parts for $450.

Much to my surprise, it had an original keystone spring on a round body follower rod and it was very, very tight.
I had to soak it in fine oil for a week before it twisted off the round body follower rod. Later on I have seen keystone
springs for sale with the last inch or so missing.

For the photo, I would not twist the keystone the follower rod all the way, just enough to photo

I have a piece of keystone spring about 1 1/2 inches long. It was given to me about 30yrs ago. Now I know why it is was only 1 1/2 inches long. Back then no one wanted round follower rods or the later short forked rods. At 600 to 700 dollars I wish I had purchased every round follower rod that I had my hands on.

there always was some speculation that the keystone springs that were longer and had additional coils (beyond the standard number) were intended for use on the later round body follower rod.

Couple of years ago I bought a box of parts and there were two typeII follower rods in the box. You never know what you may stumble on
