Consecutively Serial Numbered Educational Order Winchesters

The photos embedded in this post were taken by me on March 6th, 2015 when I had the chance to photo document three consecutively serial numbered educational order Winchesters. It's my understanding that they've since been refinished in what would be period-correct DuLite finish, which is the same finish that Winchester used back in 1941 and beyond. I have several hundred photos of these rifles and the parts that made them up at the time of transfer to the current owner. Feel free to ask me any questions that you may have about them.

These were the Rahway, NJ E.O. rifles, been around for awhile, Rick B. had 434 at one time too. A lot of restoration work performed on these rifles. Difficult to duplicate the original DuLite color when you compare with an original color. Do these rifles have cartouches ?

rifle in photo was serial numbered on Jan 15, 1941

        Robert,
Yes, these were the Rahway EOs. Agreed, a lot of restoration work was performed on them, but when you obtain only receivers I'd expect that.....unless you just want to have the receivers sitting around of course. Here's photos of the stocks. From left to right, 432, 433, and 434. I'm sure 432 and 433 are restamps, obviously, but I believe 434 had the best shot at being authentic and thus I'm including a photo of the end without the buttplate attached.
Also, I need to mention, that I'm unsure as to what configuration they're in now and whether or not additional restoration has been done to them.

One rifle has a fair cartouche but nothing like yours . All have RS stocks . Two of them have the correct rear handguards with the numbers on the inside . All of them have unmodified rear handguards and early WRA front handguards . Keystone springs. All with type 1 follower rods and 2 of those are correct Winchester rods ( working on the 3rd one ). All have original EO safties and extra hole EO WRA hammers . All three also have numbered WRA gas cylinders with sight seals, correct flushnut rear sight assys., no hole bolts with round firing pins, correct solid WRA buttplates , all have early WRA follower assys. with 20 deg. slides , etc.... They are pretty close to being 85 - 90 % correct . They still need a little bit of tweeking and a few more parts before they are done but much closer to being correct and all original parts . It is very difficult to find these parts . They are being restored back from the receiver up . I think gas trap parts are easier, LOL....

Hello Brian . One stock was used . There were two stocks that definitely had restamps on them .

              Hey Paul,
Okay. Did you end up using the stock that came on 434? I remember that one being the "best" of the three. I have so many photos of them I forget which one excited you the most when I sent them over to you.

Yes that one I used. I sent a box load of RS stocks off to Rick B. to verify . Barely got them finished for the GCA convention. Still need a small bit of work on one of them . Pretty much started back with bare receivers .

Very cool. Here's a few more photos of the heel stamps in case anyone cares.
These photos were taken by me on February 19th, 2015. See attached. Not sure if I ever sent these to you.
Looking forward to you posting pictures of them in their current state when you get time. I heard they got drooled all over at the GCA convention. Two people called me after they saw them down there.

Did you notice the large dimple on 100434 ? I'm not sure what that is but I have seen it on a lot of Winchester receivers either on the heel or the ledge in front of the rear sight right behind the bolt . Several other early and Educational Winchesters have this mark .

Brian, can you post some pics for me if I send them to you as I am having difficulty getting my computer to cooperate ?

Yes, this is not a problem. You can email them to me. I'll be up for a little while longer.

Also note how small the ' trade mark ' lettering is . Early Winchesters have this feature and the lettering is enlarged later on .

                          From Paul.
Photo #1 shows two Winchester rifles with dimples on the front top side of the receiver.
Photo #2 WRA EO rifle 100038 as listed on the CMP Auction (I wish I knew when this one went up for auction!!).

There are two ways to spot a WRA RS stock 99% of the time. First check the barrel channel for the cut on the right side then check the trigger guard recess (also the pistol grip is like the later SA SPG)
