I had a friend that found a loaded eight shot en bloc clip and the bullets had the stannic stain (looks like nickel) and marked 1 with notches cut-out.
When M2 ball came into service in 1937, US Ord decided to stain the bullets so you could identify them from 30M1 ball cartridges, this lasted until 1940
my photo shows the following 30-03, 30-06, 30M1 and 30M2 with stannic stain on bullet
Scott, what are the early Winchester clips selling for ? early and later
I won an early one on ebay for $80. It had been relisted several times. I finally decided to bite the bullet (excuse the pun) and buy it. A few days later the seller messaged me to say he'd lost it and would refund me money. I do already have one.
Later WRAs I have 4. Was given 2 of them earlier this year for nothing. They're selling for $20-40ish.
