1942 Training Aid Featuring Gas Trap

I just acquired this training aid and thought it interesting that they were using images of a Gas Trap for training in Nov. 1942. The graphic is printed on 8 x 13" paper.

Looking closer at the higher resolution scan I made; it is actually Model Shop rifle #5!

        Very cool!!
Note that it displays a later trigger guard than would have been used on a model shop example.

Haha thats exactly what I noticed as once I'd seen serial I was expecting to see the model shop trigger Guard with no hook or rounded area.

The 1940 manual shows a Model Shop.

It looks really nice as 41” x 25” poster.

I saw that on eBay but when I saw the size of it and date decided to pass. Glad someone on the forum picked it up. Here is an original full size chart that was developed shortly after the gas port change.
