Tightening amd Loosening Flush Nuts

Can anyone recommend a tool for foing this which won't Marr or damage either the Flush Nut or the Pinion?

I have a U screwdriver with a 2.3 mm width but its not perfect and I had to file the inside of the U areafor the Pinion to remain Untouched by the edges of the screwdrive. I have ordered a 2.6mm. Both came from ebay. I'm hoping the 2.6 is better.

Here is how you take it out and replace it from an Inf School Manual. Not sure why but the pages got out of sequence
