    Early Oprod

As a new poster to the forum just practicing uploading files. This is an early oprod without the dash before SA

I have a data sheet on SA serial number 71573 with a S-A 9-40 bbl (C-I-3-D) that shows a D35382-1 SA operating rod

stock is no-trap SA SPG with two equal sized holes. Not commpn to find as the -1-SA is often handstamped or in a single line

Thank you for the pics and information. I guess originally used in the 35-40K range. That 71K rifle must have been one of the last few rifles with a no trap stock. Wasn't Oct the cutover time frame?

Difficult to say for certain on the last no trap SA SPG stock and would think there was an amount of overlap during this period too. Winchester produced the no-trap stock for a long time and into 1942.

It would appear to me (and I could be wrong) that the first -1-SA marked operating rods would have been handstamped -SA and later on the drawing number was in one complete legend.

Also you have the possibility of an error in the marking on your operating rod or from my data sheet, but the SA on your operating rod does not appear to me as being handstamped. It is not at all
        common to find your marking.
