    Pre-war Project - SA #173034

While working on the restoration of SA #79869, I came across several parts that would look nice on a January of 1941 restoration. It just so happens that I have two January of 1941 receivers, one of them being SA #173034. While not perfect, because it's obviously been annealed, it's a nice-looking receiver that exhibits a worn finish, which could actually be its original finish --- as not all receivers were refinished after annealing according to a long-time and advanced-collector friend of mine.

What's interesting about this receiver is that at some point I must have either purchased this example with or added the rear sight parts to it. I honestly don't recall, as I've had this receiver for many years at this point I believe.

    Cheers,
    --Brian

Here are some photos of the parts that I plan on using in the restoration of this old war horse. Interesting sidenote----have a look at the pinion. Anyone venture to guess why it's unique?
