Alaskan Muzzle Blast Deflector

Anyone ever seen one of these muzzle blast deflectors in person? I read that there are supposedly only 3 known to exist? Did originals have any markings? Do we know if reproductions were ever made?

Another question about these, were they made out of an existing part? I read that they are field made, but they look like a very well-made piece. I wonder if maybe they started life as something else? And were modified to work on the M1?

A gentleman on the M1 Garand Rifle there Best Rifle in the World page has just posted last night claiming to have an original of these which is one of only 4 in the world. I have asked for proof of originality.
