Hello, I just acquired an SA M1 with a serial number dating it to November of 1941. Trying to learn more about it. One question I have is, does a pre WWII M1 have any effect on value? Also, how close is the receiver serial number to the date the rifle was actually built. I would think there would be a lag of a month or so??

Scott Duff wrote several books on WWII M1 Garands. They are not expensive and well worth the price. You may want to invest in one. Scott lists serial number 382181 as made Nov. 1941 with barrel date of 10-41. Scott has a web site you may want to check it out.Last edited by RDS; 04-05-2019, 03:46 PM.
