I am curious about s/n range for this stock ferrule I just acquired. Scott Duff's book and the latest GCA magazine show that C46013-1 is on s/n 11267. However, Duff's book gives no p/n for later serial numbers. It just says milled.
The drawing number was deleted early on. I believe the next page over in Duffs book says that it just says milled. It probably stopped around 13K. From there they were just milled to around 400 K, with no drawing number. After that they were two piece stamped and brazed for the duration.
One of the 2008 GCA journals has an article on serial number 19059. That rifle has the stock ferrule pictured in the article and it is marked C46013-1. The same article mentions serial number 20343 and states it has a ferrule marked C46013-2. Both are original rifles. Based on that article, I would guess the numbered ferrules went to the early to mid 20 thousand serial range.
