    Original SA SPG cartouche

    There has been a lot of fake stuff around for years, these are the early SA SPG cartouches as found on
    large over small hole stocks with the drawing number

    The first thing that jumps out at me is how thin the stamping is. Would you say that's a common identifier on how to tell the fakes?

      No, it is the size and shape of the letters and box. Early SA SPG stocks were stamped closer to the butt plate
      because the crossed cannon stamp was not used until SA GHS. Even the early SA GHS did not use the crossed
      cannon stamp
