When I owned a lot of no-trap stocks plus alterations - they really were not worth much. I remember taking Winchester WRA WB cartouched no trap stocks to a few gun shows. There wasn't anyone interested. Later when the GCA was organized and collectors got together, they realized how important the no trap stocks were to complete your rifle or just for a restoration.

The Springfield SA SPG with two equal size holes and original no trap was more difficult to find then the large over small hole no trap in my stuff

I think everybody knows what is super rare in Winchester and what is rare without going in detail, I had a lot more Winchester stocks than Springfield.

I did get some SA GHS stocks because even back then they were not common and the fakers were doing them. The Winchester large box WRA GHD I traded off right away.

Impressive to say the least. Have you ever shot them?

Rich, I have not shot them, if I went to Billy Pyle's private range this month, I could shoot them in his gas trap match, held each year.

They have a supply of L C 69 ball that is used. The springs and firing pins are changed-out for later ones for the gas trap match

Robert I had to ask. I know the value of the guns make it prohibitive to shoot. Thank You again for posting the photos.

You know there are really nice repro gas trap parts (Ratworx) around and these are nice shooting rifles. You would really hate to crack a stock or cause some other kind of damage to your original gas trap rifle, but they do shoot original gas traps at Billy Pyle's range in TX

Yep, it would suck to break an original set of keystone springs .

Years ago my friend who lived near Boston told his son he could take one of his M1 rifles to the range. The kid took the wrong rifle, it was a three digit Winchester with keystone springs and no trap Winchester stock. The kid fired ten clips through it and then shot some other rifles. There wasn't any damage and the kid told him that was what the rifle was suppose to do - shoot
