    RIA EB Rebuild Stock

    All,
The following text and photos were sent to me from Mr. Robert Seccombe (RCS), an advanced collector here on this forum.

This stock was in rebuild for the conversion to the trapdoor butt plate, but was never completed. Sort of a one-of-a-kind stock.

Many thanks to Mr. Seccombe for his contributions here. Photos are not to be reused without expressed permission from RCS himself.

    Thanks again, Sir!
    ---Brian

Thanks for posting the photos, it is interesting that during rebuild they started to scrap the pistol grip area where the second plain P stamp is located. This might indicate that this stock was through rebuild before ? The second P would have been stamped during the first rebuild. As too the no trap butt, you would think that would have been corrected the first time ? I think the G stamp and RIA EG are from the second rebuild. Stock is Winchester

Robert thank you for sharing. This stock is certainly very rare and I doubt I will ever get to see another one like it.

I do not think that all the "no-trap" stocks were converted to use the trap door butt plate right away. The solid butt plate stock was still serviceable and Winchester production went from 1941 into early 1942 with the no trap stock. The stock in these photos shows both non serif P in a circle and the Winchester serif P in circle, yet the butt area was not converted, the cartouche was removed. The only
indication of rebuild is the second proof
