    Early Garand Bolt question

    Hi Guys
Im a new guy here. I own a nice early Garand , serial 324XXX. I am unable to find my Bolts Drawing # on any of the "Known" lists. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You don't say anymore about the rifle but the receiver dates to the Aug/Sept 41 timeframe. The 2SA bolt would be correct for that time period, the heat lot is "REP"? I have a couple 2 bolts with the heat lot starting with RE. There were numerous steel companies involved with supplying steel. The heat lots really don't follow any logical sequence from what I understand so I don't think it is a big deal. Duff's data sheet book shows 296278 from Aug with a 2SA bolt having a heat lot of RE2 and 382181 from Nov having a 2SA bolt with a RE4D heat lot. Hope this helps.

Thanks for getting back to me so quick. It's a Lend Lease.
The heat lot is definitely REP2

Ok on the LL, my LL is an Aug 41 and has a REC4 heat lot on the 2SA bolt. The LL are neat rifles and are often time capsules.

Cool. You are right about being a time capsule. Still has the front sight plug.
I notice on M1 Garand Armory/ Known M1 garand Bolt Heat Lots and. USRIFLECAL30M!.com that neither of our heat lot #s are listed ???
          Thoughts?

The REC4 is mis-stamped should be RE4C which is found late 1941 and early 1942

                    s/n 337271 rev 2 bolt RE4C S/N 391564 REV 2 BOLT RE4D, s/n 422881 rev 2 bolt RE4A

there are some mis-stamped bolts around not common to find

                    photo shows a mis-stamped hammer

I know this is an older thread but I recently picked up an 8/41 LL with the bolt heat lot code REP2, was wondering if any further info has been found. Simple curiously. Thanks!

I really need to look carefully at the starting date of these threads. I keep finding out later they are older. Need to slow down a smidge I suppose.
