I came across this today. Anybody ever seen one exactly like it?

I wish I could tell you I got it from a distant relative of John Garand and that it was attached to the rest of an unmolested rifle with serial number 8. However, the truth is a buddy came across it recently. I thought it was cool and thought the you guys might enjoy it as well. I don't know much about it and I don't have a back story to share.

Thanks Kevin for sharing . It's good to see rare modelshop parts are still out there . We've all been told how impossible it is to be able to restore a gas trap , an Educational Order Winchester, and ( this one may be correct ) a modelshop. There are certainly some parts that can be unuattainable , so it is nice to see such parts come up for sale or found in someones collection. Pyle's book shows a black and white photo of this part and serial number 1 and 2 have this part on them , as they were not restored back to original configuration before they went into the museum. It's good to see one loose somewhere.
