    December 1941 Restoration

I'm starting a restoration of a December 1941 barreled receiver that I got a few years ago.
The finish on the barrel is stumbling me, though. The chamber is not bright, but it's not particularly dark, either. It's sort of medium dark (or medium bright, I suppose).

    Two questions:

    1. Is the barrel in original finish?
    2. Is the receiver in original finish??

Thanks for any help you can provide!

It looks like the barrel has for sure been refinished, the receiver too I think. Now someone can tell me I'm full of it. I have a 12-41 in my safe but think it is at the back. Chamber is bright on that one and I think the receiver is a little darker. I compared it to my 8-41 LL which does appear to be original. Finish is the same on both.

Agree. Breech looks to have been parked. Corrosive ammo can darken the breech but, in my experience, looks different than a parked breech.

I don't think the finish on the receiver is original either. It looks too good below the woodline to be original...just my opinion.

Like others I can't say for sure on the receiver, but I can tell you the coloration is a very close match to my Feb 42 SA. It may not be original, but it has been wearing that finish for a good long time.

Thanks to everyone for their input on this combo. Not sure what I'm going to do with it, yet. Probably restore it, but it really sucks that the barrel's been refinished. Damn!!
