    Black Holes

I confess to a Garand addiction.
I have 4 pre war, (3 restorations,) among the other 10 war era M1's.

I have an 86,xxx wearing a 3-41 bbl, and rest correct, whatever that is. A -1 cut op rod, -1 THG, nice LT stock, #gas cylinder with purple tint. Faint large wheel cartouche. Bbl is near new, and may be a bit too late for receiver#, but 10-40 bbls do not grow on trees. Presents well. The Stock set, including hand guards seem to have been cut out of the same tree. Odd. I bought the set as junk and restored the wood by soaking in Tide and using judicious tung oil and blo.

Next is a 259,xxx , 5-41 bbl'd receiver assembly I obtained, ( tight bbl) and then restored with correct internal parts, and a nice LT stock, #gas, etc. -5 THG, -3 op rod, Faint GHS . Looks like a lightly used war time gun.

247,000 wears an 10-41 lend lease bbl and has -2 cut op rod, -2 thg # gas etc and nice LT stock. Faint GHS. Gun presents well as an old Garand.
325xxx is a correct lend lease with 8-41 bbl and LT stock, very nice. Faint GHS.

All are works in progress, subject to improvement.

What have I accomplished over 25 years? I had fun during the hunt. I really did not spend too much $$ on each, but you know....at least they are not $$$ like Kreighoff Trap Guns!!
I also have a GT project, that mayor may not ever get finished.

Redleg, thanks for sharing. It's always the first step to rehabilitation when you can admit to your addiction. Unfortunately, the "prewars" are hard to recover from. I just had a complete relapse and have started buying parts for another early project when I still have a couple to wrap up. O'well...right? Anywho, let's see some pictures of these beauties!

Nice score on that unmodified receiver.........would love to have even seen pix of it. Maybe you'll share when it's all built up.

Thanks Jersey. It falls in between my two gas trap restoration/reproductions. Not sure if I’m gonna make it a trap or conversion. You can count on photos.
