Anybody see the opening ceremony of the Dem debate last week on CNN. The Commander of the Color Guard was carrying an M1 Garand. He was front and center. I believe the Color Guard was from a VFW post. I was very surprised to see him carrying a real M1 Garand and not a fake chrome plated 03 parade rifle with a white stock. The unit was very professional and the Commander could be heard calling out commands. It was a nice looking M1 Garand with walnut stock, handguard and fore end.
