I have a batch of LC69 cases that appear to be pulled brass, in good condition. There are varying degrees of what appears to be black sealant in the neck of the cases. The sealant is partially removed with prolonged tumbling using steel pins, and can be somewhat further removed with a Qtip wetted with acetone. It is very stubborn and tends to remain to a mild degree despite these techniques. Is there any downside to using these cases? Will this material evaporate on firing or is there a chance it will be deposited in the bore?

I agree, the sealant was selected because it worked well with the original loads. I never paid any attention to it in my reloads. Generally it burns out after a few uses. The thief may possess something he stole, but he does not own it.
The owner has a right to take his property back from the thief.
