    Early AR-15 and AR-18/180 drum

I found this in the back room of an old gun shop years ago. I was able to get it as it is different. There was a recall
and this drum was returned to the manufacturer for a modification. I think these were the first drums ever produced
for these rifles. It has a thick plastic rear so you can view the cartridges.

Now that is neat, weird magazine for a weird rifle. I like it

That is really nice and I remember those folks when they were in town. Now out here one of those will get you 3 hots and a cot at the Gray Bar.

        That is awesome!
Wow, how times have changed. It says "Firepower assault magazine", and was made in California!!
Do you know what years these were produced?

The drum had to be introduced sometime during the manufacture of the Costa Mesa AR-18/180 and before the Howa and
Sterling variations. Feedback: some drums ran without problems while other drums had problems. This drum was returned
to the factory (sort of recall back then) for a correction as the paperwork was still in the box. Difficult to find any information
but I would like to think that this was the first drum magazine available for the AR-15 and AR-18/180

            So, maybe early 1980s?
